Waukegan Main Street (and as Waukegan Downtown Association before becoming a Main Street organization) has hosted an Annual Mayor's Luncheon since the mid 1980's. Through ticket sales and raffle proceeds it is a substantial fundraising event but it is also the time when many members renew their membership.  It is a premier event in Waukegan to see and be seen.

Main Street, the City and many developers have poster displays to describe plans for the coming year.  The event also gives the mayor a forum for presenting his state-of-the-city address and it gives Main Street a high-visibility event to talk about our own plans for the coming year.  We usually distribute our Annual Report at this event.

There has never been a better Mayor's Lunch. It was nice that many attendees could walk from their offices to enjoy an elegant and delicious buffet on the stage of the Genesee Theatre.  After brief comments by Mayor Hyde, we enjoyed a rousing powerpoint presentation produced by David Motley which highlighted the many new businesses that have opened during the last year as well as the encouraging number of sites that have broken ground or which will soon break ground.

Waukegan Main Street Executive Director Theodora Anderson spoke about Main Street partnerships in general and specifically about our financial institution SLAP partners:  Associated Bank, Fifth Third Bank, First Midwest Bank, North Shore Trust and Savings, NorStates Bank and Waukegan Savings.
