|Downtown on the Lakefront|
Just a short walk or bike ride from downtown is Waukegan's spectacular Lake Michigan shoreline.
Our 400 acre lakefront, with a mile-long beach and 1,000 slip marina offer opportunities for the recreational fisher, competitive boat racer, beginning kiteboarder and everyone in between. A great location, for live music, the Stiner pavilion band shell is home to the Waukegan Band on Tuesday nights and the Summer Saturday concert series. Stop for ice cream at Dockside, a Waukegan favorite, or bring your own picnic to watch sail boat races.
Waukegan is easily accessible by car, train, plane, bicycle or boat.
