SLAP (Sign, Lighting and Awnings Program)

SLAP APPLICATION

Since 2004 SLAP has made over $90,000 in exterior improvements possible in downtown Waukegan by offering 50% matching funds to downtown property owners and businesses.

In 2006 we expanded the scope of our successful SLAP initiative to include matching funds for facade improvements in addition to funding for sign, lighting and awning projects.

Our current SLAP bank partners are:

Associated Bank, First Midwest Bank, Fifth Third Bank, NorStates Bank,
North Shore Trust and Savings, and Waukegan Savings.

Downtown property owners or businesses apply to the Design Committee for matching funds for covered projects. The  Design Committee approval process ensures that the project conforms to City of Waukegan codes.
